Wesley Snipes: The Daywalker

Wesley Snipes reshapes history, following up his debut as Blade in the Marvel comic book movie, this time in Deadpool & Wolverine by earning himself not one but two Guinness World Records.

  • It has been a quarter-century since Snipes first sunk his teeth into the nighttime protector of mortals and daywalking badass in the Blade movie. This incredible longevity has him reigning as the oldest live-action Marvel character in history. A title he took from the claws of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

But beyond that: 19 years separate Snipe’s final appearance in the Blade film called Trinity and this surprise resurrection/reappearance in the newest Deadpool flick. This epic comeback to the character broke another milestone previously held by Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock.

This was an absolutely stunning cameo that literally rocked Marvel fans. It’s like opening a treasure chest in the middle of nowhere and finding nuggets of gold. While the film per se has divided a lot of responses, no one can deny the impact of Snipes’ return. It’s a kind of moment that people will talk about for years to come.

And not trailing far behind were the unexpected appearances from Chris Evans himself, trading his Captain America shield for Human Torch’s fiery powers, Jennifer Garner stepping back as Elektra, and Channing Tatum making a cheeky cameo as the much-awaited Gambit. An all-star party if anything, which furthermore hypes fans to what else could possibly happen.
While Deadpool vs. Wolverine is not winning critics over, it’s an obvious juggernaut at the box office. Opening with breaking numbers, it’s clear that audiences are hungry for this chaotic blend of humor, action, and nostalgia.
