Anna Hryniv is a journalist, media strategist, and educator with over a decade of experience in the media industry. Beginning her career as a television journalist and anchor in Ukraine, she led live broadcast reforms at 7 Channel Odesa and contributed to BBC Ukraine. Hryniv is the founder of Typical Journalist, one of the first educational video blogs about journalism in Eastern Europe, aimed at promoting media literacy and professional standards among young journalists. Recognized by professional organizations such as the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), she has been a champion of reshaping how young journalists are trained. Her educational blog has garnered over 1 million organic views, offering case-based lessons on ethical journalism, storytelling, live reporting, and fact-checking, with a focus on countering disinformation and propaganda.
Currently based in the United States, Hryniv is continuing her mission to empower future journalists by launching a journalism school that emphasizes professional integrity, ethical storytelling, and freedom of the press. Her work has been influential in strengthening democratic resilience in regions affected by disinformation. In addition to her media work, her content from Typical Journalist has been recognized by academic institutions and media platforms in countries with restricted freedom of speech. Notable examples include an interview and published materials by Grodno State University in Belarus, as well as references from Russian platforms such as Shkola Zhizni and 4esnokov.ru, showcasing her lessons as international best practices.
