We recently had the opportunity to connect with Taiwo Alawiye, a respected voice in the tech industry working at the intersection of product, innovation, and service design. With a unique background spanning psychology, sociology, and business innovation, Taiwo’s career has been dedicated to solving meaningful problems through thoughtful, scalable digital solutions.

In this feature, Taiwo shares insights into her  journey, what drives her passion for technology, and how she continues to shape impactful user experiences across products in industries.

What specific area of tech do you work in, and what excites you about it?

Taiwo Alawiye:
I work at the intersection of product, innovation, business transformation and service design; helping organisations translate human problems into digital solutions that scale. My career has spanned multiple sectors including healthcare, financial services, finance, banking and public sector; often in regulated environments where clarity, empathy, and structured thinking are critical.

What excites me most is that moment when an abstract idea starts to become real; when it evolves into something users can interact with and find value in. I’m especially passionate about using design thinking, agile product leadership, and data-informed decision making to shape services that feel both intuitive and transformative. I lead with empathy and curiosity, and I find joy in simplifying the complex; aligning teams around shared goals, facilitating smart decisions, and ensuring that the user’s voice is never an afterthought.

Taiwo’s work is deeply rooted in creating technology that doesn’t just function well; it resonates with the people it serves. Her leadership style emphasises clarity, collaboration, and a relentless focus on user needs, ensuring that digital solutions remain both purposeful and human-centered.

What inspired you to enter tech, and how do you stay updated?

Taiwo Alawiye:
I didn’t enter tech for the tech. I came in through the human side; through psychology, sociology, and a deep interest in how people interact with systems. That’s what inspired me. I realised that the best technology doesn’t just work, it resonates. It solves problems in a way that feels seamless, inclusive, and empowering.

To stay current, I combine hands-on experimentation with a deep culture of continuous learning. I read product and design journals, participate in professional communities, mentor others (which sharpens my own thinking), and explore adjacent industries for fresh insights. I’m particularly focused on emerging tech trends, AI integration into user journeys, and ethical innovation. I’m also an advocate for cross-functional collaboration, so a lot of my learning happens in real time through dialogue, prototyping, retrospectives, and by staying open to being challenged.

Taiwo’s curiosity and commitment to lifelong learning help her stay ahead in a fast-evolving industry. Her approach reflects a broader philosophy: that innovation is most impactful when it is deeply informed by people, context, and ethics.

Reflecting on her  journey, Taiwo shares how representation and mentorship play a vital role in her work:

Taiwo Alawiye:
I believe that representation matters. As someone who’s been recognised with a UK Global Talent endorsement, I understand the responsibility that comes with visibility. I’m intentional about paying it forward: whether through mentoring, public speaking, or using tools to help others unlock clarity in their work. Tech needs more diverse voices shaping the products and services we all rely on. My journey isn’t just about what I’ve built; it’s also about who I’ve helped rise along the way.
