Orlando Bloom Drops Bomb on Fans When He Publicly Reveals Katy Perry’s Legal Name in an Emotional VMAs Speech

That was when Orlando Bloom took to the stage to present his fiancée, Katy Perry, with an award at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards and left followers jaws dropped about a stunning revelation: the singer’s real name. After eight years of sharing everything with this uptight couple-a daughter delivered and an engagement-the headline of an emotional moment at last night’s VMA ceremony brought them right back into the news.

Bloom, who was set to present Perry with the MTV Video Vanguard Award, didn’t let the moment pass without one final moving tribute. “You fell in love with her as Katy Perry,” he began before continuing, “I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson.”

He continued, “You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humor to every song she writes and music video she creates. I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same love and joy to our family.”

Bloom further praised Perry, citing that her music has brought joy and laughter to people of all walks of life around the world. He added, “She loves with her whole heart, and is kind of resistible. I see her reflected everywhere in our home, in her love for her work, but particularly in her love for her fans.”

Just after having said so, Bloom added, “Congratulations on this honor, baby. I’m so proud of you. 143. Ladies and gentlemen, the 2024 MTV Video Vanguard Katheryn Hudson. Katy Perry!”

This was quite a touching moment throughout the social media spectrum. One Twitter user had to say, “Orlando you’re making me cry,” while another added, “Orlando Bloom calling her ‘Katheryn Hudson’ is CRAZY.”

Not only that, but Bloom also brought up Perry’s album that’s due, “143,” which is said to drop next Friday, September 20. Perry has called “143” her angel number-a spiritual concept wherein the numbers are believed to carry meaning and significance.

Perry then greeted Bloom with a hug as she prepared to take center stage and serenade the audience with a medley of some of her best hits. Taking the mic afterward, Bloom graciously thanked MTV: “I did that all too on the first day of my period too, can you believe it. Thank you so much MTV for believing in my weirdness from day one and for helping artists extend their worlds beyond a song.”

Perry reflected on the challenges and alignments that had to take place for a decade-long career and concluded, “There are no decade-long accidents.”
