Taylor Swift made history during her very first performance in Sweden, as fans shattered the concert attendance record at Friends Arena.
“My mind is absolutely blown for several reasons looking at this crowd tonight,” said Swift, addressing the ecstatic audience. “First of which is that I have never gotten to play a show in Stockholm before, and my first show looks like this.” The crowd erupted in cheers, and Swift added, “You have made this the highest attended show ever in this stadium.”
While Swift did not disclose the exact number of attendees, the Friends Arena website states its concert capacity is “60,000 people, depending on the position and layout of the stage.”
Fans were quick to notice that Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was not spotted in the crowd. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end had attended her final show in Paris, which marked her 87th Eras Tour performance—a nod to his jersey number, 87. Kelce is currently hosting a music festival, Kelce Jam, in Bonner Springs, Kansas.
Stockholm, the latest city to host Swift’s blockbuster three-plus-hour show, has joined the trend of renaming itself in her honor, dubbing itself “Swiftholm.” This follows similar gestures from Glendale’s “Swift City,” Minneapolis’s “Swiftie-apolis,” and Santa Clara’s “Swiftie Clara.”
Swift is set to perform three consecutive nights at Friends Arena before heading to her next destination, Lisbon, Portugal.
