Angelina Jolie has confirmed that she plans to spend more time outside the United States as she enters a new phase of her life. After years of raising her six children in Los Angeles, the Oscar-winning actor is preparing for a lifestyle that will allow her to travel more freely, explore different parts of the world and remain closely connected to her international creative and humanitarian work.
Jolie recently opened up about her plans in an interview with L’Officiel, putting to rest speculation that she would simply move from Los Angeles to another American city such as New York. Instead, she indicated that her future is likely to involve considerably more time abroad. “It’s the end of a certain time for me,” Jolie said while discussing the transition in her personal life. She added, “Out of the States more, I think.”
The change comes after an important milestone for Jolie and her family. Her six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox, are now adults. The twins turned 18 in July, marking the end of a period in which Jolie’s responsibilities as a mother had a major influence on where she could live and how frequently she could travel.
Rather than establishing another permanent home in the United States, Jolie appears interested in creating a flexible lifestyle. She explained that she wants to maintain a place where her family can gather while also spending extended periods in different countries. “I don’t really plan to have a base. I’d like to have a home base for my family, a place where some of the mom stuff and the family photos are. And then I’d like to be a bit nomadic for a while.”
The idea of living a more nomadic life also reflects the different areas of Jolie’s career and personal interests. Her work has increasingly extended beyond acting, encompassing fashion, cultural projects, filmmaking and humanitarian activities. Spending more time abroad could allow her to combine these interests rather than treating them as separate parts of her life.
One of the projects expected to benefit from her international plans is Atelier Jolie, the creative house she launched as a platform focused on fashion and artistic collaboration. Jolie has indicated that its international expansion will begin in Brazil. Her plans involve visiting different places, meeting artists and working with local makers, giving the project a broader cultural dimension.
For Jolie, this approach appears to be about more than simply changing her address. Her interest in working directly with artists and craftspeople in different countries fits with the philosophy behind Atelier Jolie, which has sought to place greater emphasis on creativity and collaboration. Cambodia is another particularly significant destination in Jolie’s plans. The country has a deep personal connection for the actor because she adopted her eldest son, Maddox, from Cambodia. Jolie has said that her home in Cambodia will have a specific cultural purpose. “My home in Cambodia will also be a residency a few months out of the year for Khmer culture,” she explained.
