In this exclusive interview with Influencer Magazine UK, CJ opens up about his musical evolution, collaborations, creative process, and the bigger vision behind his brand.
As an independent artist, you have a unique ability to blend genres. How would you describe your musical evolution from your early work to where you are now, and what is your creative process when writing a new song?
When I first started making music, I was focused on finding my sound. Over time, I stopped worrying about fitting into one genre and just started making what felt authentic. Now my music blends hip-hop, alternative, hyperpop, rock influences, and melodic vocals. Every song starts with a feeling or an idea. Sometimes it’s a beat that inspires me, other times it’s something I went through personally. I produce a lot of my own music, so I like building the world of the song from the ground up until it feels complete.
You have collaborated with notable artists like Matt OX and BigBabyGucci and toured with Mark Battles. What are some of the key lessons you learned from sharing the stage with other artists?
Working with other artists taught me that everybody has their own process, and there’s no one formula for success. Touring with Mark Battles showed me how much consistency matters and how important it is to connect with fans in real life. Collaborating with artists like Matt OX and BigBabyGucci also pushed me creatively because everyone brings a different perspective into the studio. I always try to take something away from every collaboration.
Your high-fashion and streetwear aesthetic is a huge part of your brand. How does your visual style complement your music, and what inspires your fashion choices?
Fashion is another way I tell my story. Before people hear the music, they usually see the visuals first, so I want every outfit and every video to match the energy of the songs. I like mixing luxury fashion with underground streetwear because it reflects who I am. I’m inspired by people who treat fashion like art and aren’t afraid to take risks.
Beyond music, you are involved in acting and fashion. Do you see these as separate avenues, or are they all part of a larger creative vision you are building with your personal brand?
To me, it’s all connected. Music, acting, fashion, directing visuals, they’re all different ways of expressing the same vision. I’m not trying to be known for just one thing. I want CJ Stowklyn to represent creativity without limits. Everything I do builds the same universe, just through different mediums.
You are also passionate about humanitarian and environmental causes. Why is it important for you as an artist to use your platform for these issues, and how do you incorporate that into your work?
I think having a platform comes with responsibility. Even if it’s one person listening, you have an opportunity to make a positive impact. Whether it’s supporting community initiatives, encouraging people to chase their dreams, I want my influence to be bigger than just music. If I can inspire people while entertaining them, that’s a win.
With a dedicated fanbase across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, what are you most excited to release next, and where do you see the “CJ Stowklyn” brand heading in the next five years?
I’m excited for people to hear the next chapter of my music because I feel like I’ve grown a lot as an artist and producer. Everything I’m working on is more intentional, from the music to the visuals and live performances. Over the next five years, I see CJ Stowklyn becoming a global creative brand. I want to keep releasing music, acting in bigger projects, growing my fashion ventures, and building something that lasts beyond trends. The goal has always been to create a legacy, not just a moment.
What makes CJ Stowklyn’s journey compelling isn’t just the genre-blending music or the striking visuals, it’s the intention behind every move. In an era where artists are often pressured to fit neatly into boxes, CJ has chosen the more difficult but rewarding path of staying true to his multifaceted identity. Whether he’s in the studio producing his next track, curating a fashion moment, or using his voice for causes larger than himself, there’s a clear throughline: authenticity. As he continues to evolve across music, fashion, and film, one thing remains certain, CJ Stowklyn is an artist who refuses to be defined by a single medium, and that refusal might just be his greatest strength.
