Dr José Davy, an infectious disease specialist, healthcare entrepreneur, author, and founder of Better Health Centre, has been nominated for the Health Influencer of the Year award at the Influencer Magazine Awards 2026. The nomination recognises her extensive contributions to healthcare, public education, and community development across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and beyond. Born in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Davy describes herself as a traveler by heart, and she brings that global perspective to her work as a medical professional, author, and advocate for holistic health and wellness.
Dr Davy studied medicine at the Carlos J Findlay Institute in Cuba and obtained a Masters in Infectiology and Tropical Medicine. She is also a graduate of the Pedro Kouri Institute in Cuba and a graduate of the University of the West Indies Caribbean Leadership Institute Programme. Her commitment to continuous learning is further demonstrated by her participation in the US Department of State Visitor Leadership Program on Women’s Health Issues, her graduation from the Health Leadership programme in Taiwan, and her Diploma in Aviation Medicine from King’s College London . This diverse educational background has equipped her with a unique perspective on health that spans infectious diseases, public health leadership, and aviation medicine.
Throughout her career, Dr Davy has held numerous leadership positions that reflect her dedication to improving healthcare in her community. She has served as Clinical Care Co-Ordinator for HIV, Infection Control Officer at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, and Past President of Lions Club St Vincent South. She is the owner of Better Health Centre, a family clinic in Arnos Vale that provides general consultations for patients of all ages, with a particular focus on sexually transmitted diseases and infections, tuberculosis, and holistic health. Her practice is built on the belief that doctoring is not a competition, and she focuses on the entire human body rather than just her specialty area.
Dr Davy is also an author who has published two books: Life Knows, a book of quotes, and The Vaginal Manual, Mastering Female Health. Life Knows explores the idea that everything about life aims to teach us something and that only when we confront the rhetoric of our minds can we see life for what it really is. Her writing reflects her belief that health is not just about physical wellbeing but also about addressing the spiritual and emotional dimensions of life. She is also the host of a radio show, 360 Wellness on Praise Fm, where she shares insights on health and balanced living with a broader audience. Recently, Dr Davy was appointed as Events Committee Chair for WenCHAM SVG, the Women Entrepreneurship and Angel Investment Committee of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, which was launched by the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), a global entrepreneurship and angel investment organisation and an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion. She also serves as an International Partner representing Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the WBAF Grand Assembly, a role that recognises her leadership and influence on the global stage. Her appointment to these prestigious positions highlights her growing influence as a health leader and advocate for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.
