Second No. 1 for Shed Seven: A Winning Comeback

Britpop Icons Bag Their Second Number One Album of the Year

Twelve years since topping the UK album charts with debut number one, Shed Seven has staged their successful comeback to regain the UK album chart top spot once again. The band’s new album, Liquid Gold, celebrates their comeback and sends them to the very exclusive history book as the twentieth act to register two number one albums during a calendar year.

Formed in York in 1990, Shed Seven burst into fame during the heyday of Britpop during the 1990s. Infected anthems and a dramatic symphonic sound brought the group widespread popularity, and they instantly made them quintessential Britpop. After an impressive run, the band dissolved in 2003.

Shed Seven have been rediscovered in recent times. The return album, Instant Pleasures, gained enough mighty accolades in 2017 to thrust it back into the Top 10. It came as little surprise that the second album, A Matter of Time, debuted at No. 1 earlier this year, a major milestone for the band.

Despite heavy competition from other contemporary artists who record high numbers of mammoth streaming followers, Liquid Gold by Shed Seven topped the charts. A campaign featuring guided sale is seen to be one of the prime reasons for success in the album.

As a testament of joy and gratitude for this achievement, the band dedicates the No. 1 to those who are no longer with it. Joining the list alongside Abba, Queen, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift, from this day forward, Shed Seven has marked themselves in history as one of the most iconic acts that have ever performed on music dates and thus shows a constant worth and support of the fans towards their work.

Not only has Shed Seven staged an impressive return to the top of the album chart, but they have also done better than a lot of the more notable titles that have hit stores this week. Bring Me the Horizon, Sheffield, have stormed back up the rankings with their album Post Human: Nex Gen, and UK rapper Nines and Mercury prize-winning jazz group Ezra Collective are also into the Top 10 with their new albums.

Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter tops the singles chart for the sixth time with “Taste.” The songs “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” also kept her busy on the charts.

The second No. 1 album in a year by Shed Seven is remarkable for the long-term aspect as well as its ability to strike a chord with fans of both old and new generations. Indeed, as this band continues to make a mark on the music scene, it will be quite obvious that the legacy will go on for a very long time.
