Snoop Dogg is adding another unique role to his eclectic resume: sports commentator for the Paris Olympics 2024. Known for his hits like “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and his diverse ventures, including pet products and a cooking show with Martha Stewart, Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., is now stepping into the sports arena.
His unconventional path to this role began in 2021 during the Tokyo Olympics. Snoop teamed up with Kevin Hart for “Olympic Highlights With Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg,” delivering memorable and humorous commentary. One standout moment involved Snoop’s reaction to an equestrian dressage event, where he humorously described a horse’s moves using street dance terminology. This viral moment showcased his unique flair and caught the attention of NBC and Peacock, leading to his current gig.
Snoop, at 52, is no stranger to reinventing himself. From launching Snoop Doggie Doggs to co-founding Casa Verde Capital, a cannabis-focused venture capital firm, he’s always exploring new avenues. His passion for sports and entertainment makes him a natural fit for this role, as he himself stated, “I love being in front of the people. I love sports. I know what I’m talking about.”
Despite his reputation as a cannabis enthusiast, Snoop has vowed to stay within the legal bounds while in France, where marijuana is illegal. He humorously mentioned, “I’m going to be out there doing what I’m supposed to be doing to make sure I bring home the gold. Which is me.”
During his time in Paris, Snoop will visit landmarks, attend events, and interact with athletes and their families. He’s particularly excited to engage with the U.S. basketball team and attempt a 50-meter freestyle swim.
Announcing his participation earlier this year, Snoop expressed his enthusiasm: “It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness. We’re going to have some amazing competitions, and of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix.”
