The cable, called The Firmina Cable named after Brazilian abolitionist and author Maria Firmina dos Reis, will be the longest undersea cable in the world. Google has said that the cable is capable of running from a single power source at one end of the cable, should the other power sources are unavailable due to any technical glitch.

Google has said that it will run from the East Coast  of the United States to Las Toninas, Argentina with additional landings in Praia Grande, Brazil and Punta del Este, Uruguay.

With 12 fiber pairs, The Firmina Cable will carry traffic quickly and securely between North and South America, giving users fast, low-latency access to all the Google products such as YouTube, GMail and Google Search. images 5 1

This announcement comes as a relief for all the people because the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the online workload, all for students, workers and the entertainment industry, because the demand of cloud and internet services have increased manifold.
