ABOUT
Queen Zulu Mercy Leonard is a Puerto Rican-born singer, DJ, and radio personality known for her dynamic presence in the Latin music scene. She discovered her passion for music at a young age, frequently taking the stage at festivals and local events in Puerto Rico. In 1974, her family relocated to Miami-Dade County, Florida. Soon after, she pursued an opportunity on TV 51 Telemundo’s show for adolescent and teen vocalists, securing an audition with the help of her mother. She was selected and performed under producer Felix Lliraldi Fifo for three years.
Leonard trained in dance, vocals, and theatre at La Danza Studio Gratelli, where she participated in numerous musical theatre productions and earned the Young Artist of the Year award. She continued her artistic journey through concerts, radio interviews, and private parties, where she often DJ’d between her vocal performances using her own sound equipment. Mercy has since built a reputation as a versatile performer and DJ, regularly appearing at Latin music venues, restaurants, private events, and nightclubs. Her sets feature open-format Latin music from the 1970s to today, as well as hip hop. In addition to her live performances, she hosted a morning radio show featuring indie music and artist interviews. She currently hosts The Fuego Show on Excitement Radio, airing Tuesdays from 9 PM to 10 PM, where she continues to spotlight Latin music in an open-format style.
