Born with an ear for music and a commanding stage presence, Mercy’s journey began in childhood, taking to the stage at festivals across Puerto Rico. After relocating to Miami-Dade County in 1974, her determination landed her a spot on a Telemundo adolescent talent show, an early glimpse into a future marked by versatility and fearlessness. She studied voice and theatre at La Danza Studio Gratelli, earning the prestigious Young Artist of the Year Award while performing in numerous musical productions.
Over the years, Mercy carved out her own space in the entertainment world, singing, DJing, producing, and hosting. From spinning Latin classics and Hip-Hop at private house parties to commanding nightclub crowds with her signature open-format sets, she has consistently pushed cultural boundaries while celebrating her roots.
Beyond the DJ booth and stage, Queen Zulu Mercy Leonard became a voice for indie artists and Latin culture through her radio work. As host of the dynamic “The Fuego Show” on Excitement Radio, she brings heat every Tuesday night from 9–10pm, offering a vibrant mix of Latin music and independent artistry, while engaging listeners across platforms.
