ABOUT
Mukta Bain is a Bangladeshi-American public health advocate and policy analyst whose inspiring journey began in a small rural village in Bangladesh. At just eight years old, she moved to the U.S. with her aunt, leaving behind her immediate family in search of better opportunities. That early sacrifice laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to service. By the age of 16, Mukta was already working, driven by a passion for community health. She went on to earn both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Health Policy and Administration and currently serves full-time as a Health Policy Analyst at the Maryland Department of Health. Mukta is also pursuing a Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) at Morgan State University, focusing on health policy and leadership. Mukta’s dedication has earned her national and international recognition. She was honored to be invited to the Oval Office at the White House by President Biden in recognition of her contributions to public health in Maryland. In 2024, she was selected as a Youth Delegate for Youth for Human Rights, representing Bangladesh at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
Her impact stretches far beyond Maryland. In 2018, Mukta founded A Voice for a Village in Bangladesh, through which she has led several humanitarian projects: installing clean water pipelines, building a bridge for safe river crossing, distributing winter blankets, and funding education for girls to prevent child marriage. In the U.S., she has held leadership and advocacy roles with the Maryland Public Health Association and the Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition, testifying on critical health legislation and promoting equity. A 2024 United Nations Youth Delegate and 2025 Maryland Top 100 Women honoree, Mukta continues to bridge global and local impact through policy, compassion, and action.
