Halle Berry’s ‘Crime 101’: A Powerful Milestone Celebrating Women Who Refuse to Be Diminished

Halle Berry, a world-renowned actress and winner of the Academy Award, has talked about the crime 101 movie as one of the most important and emotionally powerful films of her thirty-year career. In the run-up to the release of the film, Berry has also been coming out to talk about how proud she feels about the film, describing it as a tribute to women who do not allow themselves to be diminished by anyone. As an actress whose career in Hollywood has seen her make strides as well as face numerous setbacks, Crime 101 is not just another credit. It feels like a statement.

Berry was very open in a touching video that she shared with her followers as she sat in her vehicle, waiting to pick her son at soccer practice, and talked about the film. The scene was easy and easy to relate to yet the feelings she felt were deep. Looking back at the release of the film, she wrote, I was just sitting there and I felt rather emotional and, uh, proud. I’m so proud of this movie. I am so proud to have had an opportunity to work with a band of great actors and our director… guys, men, mensch of human beings that lived up to me, respected me.

Through her words, one gets to know the truth about the entertainment industry, which is so easy to be silent about others, but respect is important. In the case of Berry, who has been in the Hollywood since the early 90s, the fact that she has been working in the place where she felt appreciated and safe seems to have made this experience particularly memorable. Women have not always fared well in the industry especially the women who are past forty years of age. Ageism is an ever-present backlash and chances of multi-layered strong female characters tend to fade away as the actresses get older. At that, the pride of Berry is weighty.

It has been made clear that this role is addressed to women who are going through the so-called path of life. Berry was talking about her character Sharon Coombs she said, And as I go down the path of life I have no more Fs to spare, and, I just feel so emotional because, this, of all the things I have ever done, I am so proud to be a part of.

It is a breath of fresh honesty. Berry has changed his mindset after several decades of being in the limelight. The fear to impress, the need to be accommodated to very small demands, appears to have yielded to something much more consistent and self-confident. That development seems to be reflected in her depiction of Sharon Coombs. The character defends her position, tells her truth, and does not want to be marginalized. Berry adds that there is a character in this film, Sharon Coombs, whom he portrays, and who, he tells all women in that path in life.

Thrillers and crime dramas in Hollywood have always focused on male anti-heroes, and women appear in the background or in reactive character. The fact that the female protagonist in Crime 101 is proudly in control and tough is what makes the movie unique in his eyes, at least, Berry. It is especially important in a time when the discussion of representation and inclusion is transforming the expectations of the audience. The audience does not want to see one-dimensional images anymore. They desire authenticity, intricacy, and power gained.

Berry has always talked of the idea of empowering women in their middle and later years, and this movie is directly related to what she terms as her second act project. And as you guys know, that is my second act, passion and mission is to transform the life of women, and all my ladies back there who are headed the right way of the life, and all the women who are headed the right way of the life in the future. And so, that’s all the women. It is a character to you since, she can stand up in her defense.

Her activism has become more open over the past years, namely, concerning the matters of aging, self-esteem, and social expectations imposed on women. In a world where youth is frequently celebrated in the industry, the fact that women are still powerful and relevant at all their ages is personal and political as stated by Berry. And, as we walk that road in life, I want to believe that we will find our spine, we will not bow down, we will never hide our truth, we will keep on reminding the world that we are not here to be finished at 45, or 50, or 60 or 75 and 80, 90.

This is a statement that goes way beyond the movie. It is a fear of invisibility as women grow old that is a universal fear of many women. Berry contradicts this idea. I will state that we have things to do here, we are here, and we matter. Those few words are the main message she wants people to receive by watching Crime 101. It is not just a crime caper with an action and suspense. It is also a wake up call of on-going purpose.

Cinematically, Berry has referred to the movie as a propulsive adult thriller that boasts of strong action. Therefore, when you are in the mood to have a cool date night, this weekend, boys, boys, girls, come to the movie theater, girls, and have an adult propulsive crime caper full of great action. And I love an action movie, you see, I love it so much. The fact that the movie is made with passion is an indication that it is balanced between adrenaline and emotional richness. She also gave promises to the audiences, But the characters have heart and we can promise that you will follow each and every character and that you will not know how you want it to end, but you will not feel disappointed. Um, go borrow it this weekend and come back and tell me what you think.

The excitement that Berry has is base level. She has little more to offer after thirty years in a volatile business. Her Oscar nomination in Monster Ball solidified her fear of time and she is still trying to find films that would provoke the mindset. Crime 101 seems to represent a turning point in a number of ways. It is not only professionally advancing, but personal.
