Oasis Reunion Tour: Liam Gallagher Reacts to Line-Up Leaks with Slight Discontent

The long-awaited Oasis reunion is officially coming, as the legendary Britpop group announces its comeback for a world tour in 2025. Following years of rumor and hearsay, the Gallagher brothers will reform their Live ’25 tour. It’s a great day for fans, and excitement is on the rise as the band gears up to launch their comeback in Cardiff on July 4, 2025. This is the beginning of an extensive UK tour followed by the band performing their show in North American, South American, Australian, and Asian stadiums.

But the journey to this reunion is not drama-free by any means. Although the reunion has been the talk of the town, a leak about the line-up of the band caused some tension in the recent past. People close to the band and the tour have purportedly provided music sources with information on who would be taking the stage alongside Liam and Noel Gallagher, but the news did not sit well with Liam, who’s not shy of expressing his frustration.

NME, a well-known music magazine, recently came out and announced that Andy Bell, who replaced Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan on bass from 1999 to 2009, will join the lineup. Bell already left with Liam for the side band Beady Eye, so his addition is not an unlikely option. Gem Archer, who stepped in for the departed Bonehead (aka Paul Arthurs) as a second guitarist in 1999, is also to return to the fold. Archer had been central to both Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and like Bonehead will be welcomed as a central cog in Oasis’s extended musical machinery.

For most, no Oasis reunion would be complete without Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs. The original member guitarist has been a constant in Liam’s solo career, so his return is a possibility that fans are eager for. The relationship between Liam and Bonehead has been well-documented, and the reunion is less than genuine without his recognizable face.

Leaks of the lineup do not end here. Liam has alluded to introducing new people in the resurgence of the band. Joey Waronker, a talented drummer and former performer with Beck, R.E.M., and Thom Yorke’s Atoms for Peace, is reportedly to become the new drummer for the band, based on NME reports. With an impressive catalog to his credit, many people are eagerly waiting for his collaboration but it’s yet to be officially confirmed.

Of course, Liam Gallagher also weighed in on the lineup announcement via social media. He spoke out about the leaks on X (formerly Twitter), where he said that although he wasn’t “bothered” that the lineup had been leaked, he was bothered about knowing who the source of the leaks was. Gallagher, ever the straight-talker, even promised an “exclusive interview” to anyone who could name the source who leaked the information to NME.

In classic Liam style, he threw his own version of the lineup into the mix. As per him, the reunion would include “Tony McCarroll on drums, Alan White on bass, Zak Starkey as lead guitarist, and Chris Sharrock on keys.” But fans of the band remain doubtful about these reports, particularly because most of these musicians have been part of Oasis at various stages of the band’s existence, and their exit from the band wasn’t always on good terms.

Former Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll was replaced in 2004 by Alan White. Both drummers have had a difficult past with the band and are thus less likely to return. Also, Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr’s son and former Oasis guitarist, hasn’t been part of the band for years, and former drummer Chris Sharrock, who briefly played with the band, is now a significant contributor to Liam’s solo output.

While it’s apparent that Liam Gallagher has his own idea of who should be included in the Oasis reunion, the reality is, the ultimate lineup is a secret. Oasis fans will just have to wait and see who will actually be taking the stage with the Gallagher brothers next summer. The anticipation for the reunion tour is tangible, but with each turn and twist, it appears that the reunion is more about the brothers’ drama than the music itself.

While the world waits for the Live ’25 tour, one thing is certain: the path to the reunion is not an easy one. The leaks and varied opinions regarding the members of the band reveal how complex the relationship within Oasis has always been. One thing, however, is certain: the fans of Oasis, who have waited for more than a decade for this to happen, will not let anything ruin their eagerness for the concerts.

Whether it’s the return of familiar faces or the addition of new blood, the theatre is set for a retelling for the ages. With the Gallagher brothers at the wheel, Oasis is on the verge of a reunion tour that promises to be just as monumental as their initial ascension to stardom. Everyone is waiting for the ultimate unveiling, but until that moment, we can only speculate about who will actually join the Live ’25 ride.
