“Higher insurance premiums, which is very common in fire-prone areas, may significantly deter a potential buyer,” Fisher noted. “That together with the psychological impact of living in an area prone to such disasters creates a feeling of unease among prospective homeowners.”
However, Fisher still believes that the Sussexes’ estate does not lose its appeal. “The cutting-edge fire safety features built into the mansion, coupled with the timeless glamour of Montecito as a luxury hideaway, will probably offset the long-term effect on the value of the property.” According to him, while the property will no longer appreciate as fast as elsewhere in more fire-safe areas, the unique charm of Montecito remains a draw for high-net-worth buyers.
The commitment of the couple to their community in such trying times has further solidified their connection to Montecito. They have opened their doors to friends and loved ones displaced by the wildfires, offering a haven of comfort and support. Furthermore, Harry and Meghan have actively participated in relief efforts, lending their voices and resources to support those affected by the disaster.
