Nick Knowles will feature on Strictly Come Dancing again this Saturday after medical clearance following a shoulder injury that threatened to end his Strictly run. He sustained the injury, changing his tire on his Range Rover at the time, and there was a concern that his Strictly journey would be ended prematurely after just one show. Luckily, the doctors gave him the go-ahead to continue, and relieved fans only hoped for him to get back on the dance floor.
Knowles, paired with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk, had a rough week ahead of the second live show. He was forced to wear a sling for the injury and could not practice for much of the week. However, Nick and Luba do not aim to bottle things up when they take their turn on stage this time around. They have the attitude that “the show must go on.” An insider even shared that they are even thinking of doing a lift in their routine-an added risk to Nick’s shoulder.
“Luba has promised Nick that the choreography he originally planned can be adapted to put him in a safer position,” the insider revealed. “Nick is fully dedicated because he does not want to be perceived as begging for sympathy from the audience.” Knowles is going ahead with his dance with an aggression instead of running away from the task. “Now that he’s been allowed to dance, he is going all out for the routine.”
The duo is currently rehearsing at Elstree Studios to catch up on lost time, working tirelessly in perfecting their routine before Saturday. Last week, Nick and Luba wowed the judges with an energetic jive where Nick even donned a sparkly high-visibility vest, earning him appreciation for his enthusiasm and energy. The excitement of that night was quickly overshadowed, though, when he stepped on something sharp while changing the car tyre in an accident.
Nick’s injury came at particularly unfortunate timing—to wit: on his birthday, no less. He missed his own birthday party as the breakdown of his car left him stranded on the side of the road. The minor accident turned into a major problem as he hurt his shoulder when trying to change the tyre. Yet Knowles has remained optimistic, though he admitted feeling frustrated over the timing of the injury.
“Nick was highly upset that something so avoidable had created such a problem so early in the competition,” an insider reveals. “It was quite a relief when the doctors told him he was fine and that he could dance.” Now, with just a few days remaining, Nick and Luba are running against time to get their routine as polished as possible for the live show.
Strictly experience has already been a hot topic of discussion, and fans along with the critics are eager to know whether he will take the pressures of competition alongside the physical demands of dancing. He is not unknown to the public eye being a popular television personality; however, Strictly has thrown for him a very different kind of test. Knowles, however, welcomed this experience with great enthusiasm though the injury was something completely unexpected.
Speaking with a reporter after the show Knowles said he was thrilled to appear on Strictly, despite having taken such a physical pounding. He admitted that if the others continued to perform at such a level, he wouldn’t be there on Strictly for much longer-matter of fact, he now thinks he must have had an injury-but he’s determined to make each moment count. He also added that he wouldn’t want sympathy votes and he wasn’t going to take it easy because of the injury.
It will, of course, be a major turning point in Nick’s journey on Strictly this weekend when he dances live on television. Viewers are ready to see how he is going to cope with such a challenging week and if he can manage to get through a performance that will capture the imagination of everyone involved, be it judge or audience. Whether or not he can execute the lift is immaterial but what is certain is, Nick Knowles is not one to give up without a fight.
As the competition is expected to get hotter, it will probably be resilience and determination that help him stay in contention as he battles through the pain. Whatever the case, “The Show Must Go On,” and for now, Nick Knowles is entirely in step.
