Olivia Munn recently disclosed that she underwent a full hysterectomy in April as part of her ongoing battle with breast cancer. Speaking to Vogue, she revealed, “I have now had an oophorectomy and hysterectomy. I took out my uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.” Describing the decision as “the best,” Munn explained that her doctor recommended halting estrogen production in her body to prevent the cancer from returning. At 43 years old, she emphasized that the decision was necessary to prioritize her presence for her family.

Reflecting on the emotional toll of her treatment, Munn expressed her determination not to miss out on important moments with her son, Malcolm. Despite reassurances from friends that her son wouldn’t remember her absence, Munn was keenly aware of her desire to fully experience motherhood. This surgery marked her fifth in her cancer journey, following a series of procedures including a double mastectomy, lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery, and a nipple delay.

Prior to her hysterectomy, Munn experienced severe exhaustion as a result of taking Lupron to suppress estrogen. This exhaustion left her bedridden and deeply affected her daily life, especially her interactions with her son. Despite the challenges, Munn found solace in her decision to freeze her eggs for the third time, expressing hope for expanding her family in the future.

Munn’s journey began in March when she announced her breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent double mastectomy. Her proactive approach to treatment underscores her resilience in the face of adversity. With each step, she navigates the complexities of her diagnosis with courage and determination, inspiring others with her openness and strength.
