Hailey Bieber recently reunited with her parents, actor Stephen Baldwin and Kennya Baldwin, during a family dinner in Los Angeles, offering a glimpse into a relationship that has evolved over the years. The 29-year-old model and Rhode Skin founder was seen spending time with her parents and older sister Alaia Baldwin on August 20. The family gathering comes two years after Hailey spoke publicly about becoming more independent and acknowledged that she was no longer particularly close to her family in the same way she had been earlier in life.
The dinner was a reminder that family relationships can change without necessarily disappearing. Hailey’s earlier comments about her family were widely discussed because of her growing independence and the life she had built with her husband, singer Justin Bieber. However, she had also made it clear that becoming more independent did not mean she had completely separated herself from her parents or her childhood.
During the Los Angeles outing, Hailey appeared dressed casually for the family occasion. She wore a white baby tee beneath a black hoodie and paired the look with matching workout leggings. She completed the outfit with dark sunglasses and a shoulder bag, keeping her appearance relaxed and understated. Her sister Alaia Baldwin was also present and wore a black outfit with a camel-coloured jacket.
Stephen Baldwin opted for a beige short-sleeved button-down shirt, blue jeans and a cap featuring professional cowboy Lane Frost’s 1987 world championship. Kennya Baldwin, Stephen’s wife of more than 36 years, wore a button-down top with high-waisted brown linen trousers. The family’s low-key appearance contrasted with the level of public interest that often surrounds Hailey, particularly because of her status as a model, entrepreneur and member of the Baldwin family.
The reunion also brings attention back to comments Hailey made about her family in 2024. Speaking about her relationship with her parents at the time, she said, “I’m not super close with my family at this point in my life because I feel like I’m very independent.” She continued, “I’m my own individual now, and I’ve built my own family.”
Those remarks reflected a familiar transition that many people experience as they become adults. For Hailey, however, the process has taken place under intense public attention. Her marriage to Justin Bieber, the launch and expansion of her beauty company Rhode Skin, and the couple’s growing family have all contributed to a life that is increasingly separate from the household in which she grew up.
Importantly, Hailey’s comments did not suggest that she had rejected her family. She has spoken positively about her childhood and acknowledged the unusual circumstances surrounding her upbringing. Reflecting on her early years, she said, “Obviously, I come from the family that I come from, and I always recognised that that was different.” She also added, “when I look back on my childhood and how I grew up, I have very fond, beautiful memories.”

During a 2023 appearance on a chat show, she addressed the discussion around celebrity families directly, saying, “I’m just going to call myself a nepo baby, because I am one, and I embrace that I am.” Her willingness to acknowledge that background has become part of how she discusses her career rather than something she appears interested in hiding.
At the same time, Hailey has built a public identity that extends beyond her family name. Her beauty brand Rhode has become a major part of her professional profile, while her work as a model has kept her connected to the fashion and entertainment industries. Her business career has also placed her in a position where she is increasingly recognised for her own ventures rather than solely for her connection to the Baldwin family or her marriage to Justin Bieber.
Stephen Baldwin has continued to publicly express pride in his daughter’s achievements. In a 2025 interview, he praised her progress, saying, “Look at my daughter. I never talk about her, but my daughter has done the impossible, relatively.” He then added, “But in this day and age, in the last 10 years, it’s not impossible. It’s happened.”
Stephen also commented on the changing financial opportunities available to young people through the internet, saying, “And young people are making unbelievable amounts of money on the Internet in ways that are very sketchy,” before adding, “So, God bless her.”
