Beyoncé to Headline Netflix’s NFL Christmas Day Halftime Show

Superstar Beyoncé will headline the highly electrifying halftime performance for the special Netflix NFL Christmas Day game between the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens. Houston-born Beyoncé, 43, posted on her Instagram page a teaser video promoting the event to be held at NRG Stadium. As the NFL’s first edition on Netflix, the game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT.

In the ad, Beyoncé wears a red, white, and blue outfit as she stands on a car partially covered in roses. Among the teaser shots is her catching a football to give a sporty feel. The license plate reads “BRNCNTRY,” referring to her highly acclaimed album Cowboy Carter. It features one of her tracks, American Requiem, but ends with an intense close-up of the music legend.

It follows another record-breaking achievement of Beyoncé, who recently broke the record for most-ever nominations by any artist. She received 11 nominations from her latest album, Cowboy Carter. She has gained 99 nominations throughout a career, thus that an artist has ever received. She puts her in the history books as the most-nominated artist at the Grammys, a title she shares with her husband, Jay-Z.

Her nods also run dramatically across pop, country, Americana and melodic rap performance fields. What is striking is that this is for the first time Beyoncé has ever received a nomination in country and Americana categories. Some of the notable songs like Texas Hold ‘Em rank in Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Country Song. Winning for Album of the Year would make her the first Black woman to win since the turn of the 21st century—a feat not reached since 1999, when Lauryn Hill won for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

This year, stiff competition awaits the Grammys in the guise of artists nominated multiple times, namely, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, and Charli XCX. Some of the tracks among the songs vying for the Song of the Year award are Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em, Eilish’s Birds of a Feather, Swift and Post Malone’s Fortnight, and the viral hit A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey.

Another first-timer is Shaboozey, who sings on Beyoncé’s SPAGHETTII, and is recognized with Linda Martell. Valuable in itself was the partnership, as Martell is 83 and a trailblazer for women in country music, and this is her first lifetime nod.

The halftime show, coming from Jesse Collins Entertainment and Parkwood Entertainment, will be perhaps the best holiday program. Beyoncé’s performance further celebrates not only her roots in Houston but also marks an influence in music and entertainment, and this is forever.

Fans who have been waiting for her to debut on Netflix also get another reason to celebrate: the 2025 Grammy Awards, which air February 2 on CBS and Paramount+ from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. One thing is sure: With each new project, Beyoncé raises the bar higher.
