Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Ignite Romance in New Chanel No. 5 Ad Amid Wuthering Heights Casting Buzz

It has been announced that Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi star in a new romantic Chanel No. 5 ad as buzz continues to swirl about their casting in the adaptation of Wuthering Heights. The two Australians have recently starred together in Saltburn.

The ad, See You at 5, released on Monday by Chanel, has the duo in a series of visually captivating scenes that highlight the connection between them. Directed by Luca Guadagnino, the short film introduces Margot Robbie, 34, sitting amazingly by a window in a striking black dress with the glow from her phone lighting up her face. With a gamin grin, she types out the message on the screen, “See you at five,” which is not only the mood of the ad but its title as well. We hear Margot’s soft whispering over these words, giving them an undeniable mystique.

As people await her appearance in Wuthering Heights as the heroine for Jacob, here again Margot effortlessly charms the viewer through the commercial. She becomes a vision in a red two-piece outfit, bold and daring, an expression of the essence of Chanel. The cropped jacket and mini-skirt with golden buttons enhance her sleek features as she spritzes Chanel No. 5 perfume on herself for a love tryst. Elegance is taken to the next level as cinematic shots reveal her getting into an expensive car and cruising down California’s beautiful hills to enhance the glamorous nature of the advert.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Jacob Elordi also finds a place in the advertisement as a love interest for the protagonist. He’s dressed in a crisp white T-shirt and fashionably tailored trousers and has a cool confidence that makes him enjoy receiving a message from Margot, which they might be meeting soon. This casual-yet-style way of dressing works well with the romantic story-telling in the film.

Then the advertisement transitioned to the magical moment of when Margot is standing at the balcony peering in the ocean-spreading wide waters while awaiting Jacob. There is some suspense that can be witnessed in this scene since there is anticipation in the action of the character. In the next scene, Margot jumps into the water while wearing a red halter-neck swimsuit. Then, on the other hand, Jacob is quietly smiling while supervising from the balcony. The visual storytelling here is silent about the bond between the two, but their physical distance more likely alludes to a love story that didn’t get its chances.

Interestingly, the two actors never share a screen during the entire commercial. Instead, the connection between the two has been left symbolic so that one is always questioning whether they would ever meet at their intended rendezvous. Such ambiguity in the relationship stimulates the viewer to infer the meanings of the narrative.

When Chanel posted the ad on Instagram, accompanying words to it read: “A woman. In the new N°5 film, See You at 5, Luca Guadagnino’s lens follows Margot Robbie along the roads of California. The story of two lovers’ missed connections that lead a woman toward her destiny. Will there be a rendezvous waiting at the end of the journey? Or is the rendezvous itself the journey?” This part was like veiled insiders-information on adding to the feeling of a poetic love miss in the ad beautifully.

Fans of both the actors promptly flooded the comments with excitement. Several outpour their happiness and elation with Margot and Jacob, both Australia’s rising stars, in the iconic campaign. “Two Aussies as the faces of Chanel No. 5- love it!” another commenter posted. “Australians are just really good-looking, whatever you say,” another simply said, proud of seeing their favorite stars represent the prestige brand.

This is another huge step for Margot Robbie in her long history with Chanel. She has been a Chanel collaborator almost six years now, having started as an ambassador for the fashion brand back in 2018. In 2019, she became the face of Gabrielle perfume, and the last two years show her to be one of the brand’s most popular global ambassadors.

Featuring the new couple Jacob Elordi, who’s career has quickly zoomed to loftier heights since his stint in both Euphoria and The Kissing Booth, and Margot, this fragrance campaign imbues a newfound vitality to these timeless films. It’s not just an advertising give for their incredible screen presence but underscores their range as versatile actors who can effortlessly play genres in a never-ending infinity of characters.

With their next film Wuthering Heights already doing the rounds of everyone’s minds, this Chanel No. 5 commercial is another shred of mystery in the works toward a promising on-screen chemistry as the duo and the interest of their fans is held in thrall, waiting with bated breath to find out how that chemistry will flourish in their future films.
