Forty years after her iconic role as Baby Houseman in “Dirty Dancing, Jennifer Grey continues to charm audiences with her ageless beauty and enduring talent.
In “Dirty Dancing” — a classic since its 1987 release — the chemistry was undeniable between Grey and Patrick Swayze as they danced their way into the hearts of millions. Their electrifying performances coupled with the unforgettable soundtrack propelled Grey into a household name overnight.
Although “Dirty Dancing” remains to be her most celebrated role, Grey has quickly and successfully built an illustrious career beyond the iconic movie. She has appeared on popular shows like “Friends,” “House, M.D.,” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” just to name a few, becoming another quality show host with performances.
Now, Grey is back on the silver screen with a new film: “A Real Pain,” in which she stars as Marcia. The film, directed by Jesse Eisenberg, also features Kieran Culkin. The film had its world premiere at BFI London Film Festival.

Grey’s road to stardom was no small victory. As she continued working her way toward stardom, she was in a string of films, including “Reckless,” “Red Dawn,” and “The Cotton Club.” She also was sister to Matthew Broderick’s character in the Jonathon Roberts comedy classic “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”.
However, the character that catapulted her into instant fame was that of Baby Houseman in Dirty Dancing. Several big names were considered and rejected before Grey got the role in the movie.
Later, Grey acted in some other projects after “Dirty Dancing.” She did the musical version Bloodhounds of Broadway with Matt Dillon and Madonna.
Although her career momentarily slowed, Grey could assign this to personal prerogative. During the 1990s, Grey gained a nose job, a procedure which had significant influence on her public persona. “It became the thing, the idea of being completely invisible,” she later recalled, “from one day to the next.”
Thus, after the disaster, Grey turned around and went on to shine as she emerged with a show of triumph on the reality show “Dancing with the Stars.” Having a very professional partner in Derek Hough, she emerged victorious as the oldest one to take home the trophy.
Grey’s experience on “Dancing with the Stars” was her testimony to resilience and talent. It also proved her capability to reach people on a personal level.
Grey has made headlines nonstop regarding her private life over the past several years. She finally ended her divorce with Avengers actor Clark Gregg whom she shares a daughter with last year.
