The latest trailer for Venom: The Last Dance has finally landed, and it’s a doozy of a sneak peek at what promises to be an action-packed finale to the Venom trilogy. Spider-Man fans will also be delighted to see Rhys Ifans, who played Dr. Curt Connors/Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man, returning in a rather interesting way-but this time, he’s donning a very different role. The trailer introduces a completely new character from what Ifans played. His character in the film is that of a free-spirited, hippie-like character named Martin as confirmed by the captions on the trailer.
In one scene, he sits in the back of a van with Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock, delivering this line of dialogue that pretty much sets the tone for the film: “There comes a time in every man’s life where you have to make a sacrifice.
The plotline explores the challenges that arise in a very unlikely partnership between Eddie Brock and his alien alter-ego, Venom. Venom: The Last Dance is directed by Kelly Marcel, who has provided the screenplays for the other two films, Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. For this film, Marcel assumes directorial duties, giving a new creative direction to the series. Along with this final trailer, confirmation comes that The Last Dance does indeed mark the end of the film series about Venom. This year already saw the announcement by chairman Tom Rothman of Sony Motion Pictures Group that the third installment will wrap up the Venom saga.
According to Rothman, this concluding chapter in the Spider-Verse movies by Phil Lord and Chris Miller will represent an event that significantly helps Sony’s Marvel universe, which in turn certainly bodes really well for future developments that the fans of Venom and Spider-Man are waiting for.
Rothman further added, “When the last of the Spider-Verse movies comes with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it’s going to be an event, as will the next Tom Holland Spider-Man movie.” He promised fans that the third Venom movie will be “huge,” teasing major moments to come as the series comes to a close.
Besides Hardy’s reprisal as Eddie Brock, a few exciting additions round out the cast of The Last Dance. The addition of Ifans as Martin is just one of these great reveals. Other cast members include Juno Temple of Ted Lasso fame and Chiwetel Ejiofor, known from his role in Doctor Strange. Both will no doubt show up with some chilling performances amidst this already star-heavy cast. Juno Temple already expressed her excitement over the project, ‘hand on heart, on set was probably one of my favorite times of my career’.
She expressed to Variety how thrilled she was: “It’s been so much fun, and I got to work with such cool people. I’ve been so lucky in my career just to have the most incredible casts. I can’t wait for it to get out into the world. I think it’s going to be a good one.”
With Venom: The Last Dance finally arriving, audiences should prepare themselves for a non-stop mix of action, emotional stakes, and the big, loud moments that have come to define the Venom series. With a mix of some familiar faces and new characters, it’s bound to be one of the most thrilling conclusions in Eddie Brock’s journey with Venom. Venom: The Last Dance follows into theaters on October 25, concluding a trilogy that has truly left its mark in the Sony Marvel universe. Audiences preparing for the release of the film can already tell that this third and final chapter is going to leave its mark and set the stage for what’s next to come with the larger Spider-Verse. It’s the explosive conclusion no Venom fan should miss, full of sacrifices and finally showing where the future of Venom lies.
