The world of football is currently filled with a very sumptuous swap transfer between two giants of the English Premier League: Chelsea and Manchester United. With the closure of the transfer window nearing, officials from these two clubs are currently locked in talks that may well lead to the sale of Jadon Sancho to Stamford Bridge and, in return, Raheem Sterling to Old Trafford.
Chelsea are keen on Sancho as the talented winger has blown hot and cold for United in a bid to give their attack an extra layer of depth. Blues have availed themselves of the market in fine fashion after sealing a few highly-rated players, but want more depth with creativity into the ranks. Well, a move for the winger Sancho could give them just that.
Only, the possible deal is far from simple. Meanwhile, Manchester United want to sell Sancho but are eyeing a fee in the region of about £40 million for the player in question. In this regard, Chelsea may have a few concerns, especially if they have to pay a high proportion of Sancho’s wages along with the transfer fee.
Another way to break the impasse would be a package involving Sterling. The former Manchester City star fell out of favor with Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, and will do anything to leave the club. United may be drawn to acquiring such a Premier League-proven player as Sterling, but they may also be wary of his high wages.
Along with the deal for Sancho, Chelsea are also looking at trying to bring Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to the Bridge. Of course, the Blues had been interested in the Nigerian international for some time, though they just could not agree on a fee with the Italians. Reports recently claim that both sides are edging closer to an agreement.
And as the deadline to transfers comes closer, the transfer prospects of other desirable players such as Sancho, Sterling, and Osimhen remain just as uncertain. Within a week, things might go from sleepy to busy as clubs look to round off remaining transfer business. It will be a nervy time for plenty of the Chelsea and Manchester United supporters in the case of these high-profile deals.
