Michael Madsen Arrested for Domestic Violence After Allegedly Shoving Wife

Popular actor Michael Madsen of the movie Reservoir Dogs landed in police custody over the weekend after accusations of domestic violence. The 66-year-old actor, according to TMZ, shoved his wife, DeAnna Madsen, 64, while at it, then locked her out of their home in the Los Angeles area.

The incident took place late on Saturday evening, resulting in the chaos at the couple’s home. The police were summoned to the home, and though DeAnna was, by that time, said to be secure with a team of security personnel, the police still decided to take action by arresting Madsen after discussing with him and his wife.

Madsen, who also starred in the “Kill Bill” movie series, was taken into custody on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence just after midnight Friday. He was released nearly 24 hours later on $20,000 bail.

A representative for Madsen later confirmed the report of the incident, calling it a “marital dispute” between the couple and also hoped that everything worked out positively for everyone involved. Madsen and DeAnna tied the knot in 1996 and have three kids: Hudson, Luke, and Calvin. Their family tragically lost their son Hudson to a gunshot wound in 2022.

This arrest marks yet another chapter in Madsen’s recent history of trouble with the law. Just two years after the 2022 date, Madsen was arrested for trespassing at a luxury Malibu home from which he was evicted. The $5.3 million property—in front of the Pacific Coast Highway and just across from La Costa Beach—was leased by someone else, with several thousand dollars owed in back rent. The eviction process was painfully drawn out as it was during the COVID-19 eviction moratorium.

The homeowner claimed, too, that, on the very night Madsen broke into their house, a security company called them to notify them that their residence was breached. The homeowner arrived to find Madsen sitting on the front porch. Thereafter, the actor, who was in dirty jeans, a denim jacket, and an unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt, was taken into custody by officers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

That arrest netted a $500 citation for a misdemeanor. Madsen was then released from custody shortly thereafter. He reached an agreement with the property owner, allowing Madsen to pick up his things.

In 2022, Madsen’s troubles have been added to with personal tragedy. Just a month before Madsen’s arrest for trespassing, his son, US Army Sgt. Hudson Madsen, had committed suicide on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, where he was posted with 25th Infantry Division. Hudson, a veteran of the Afghan war, was suffering from some personal issues, he observed, but Madsen had seen no indication that Hudson was depressed in recent conversations. The loss has been a shock. The actor could only say, ‘I can’t believe it,’ since Hudson had informed him recently that he was a good person.

Madsen now has asked for a full military investigation into his son’s death because he said Hudson had been shamed by officers and was discouraged to seek counseling.

The actor has started having legal troubles for over a decade. In the same year, 2019, he crashed his Land Rover into a pole and was arrested for DUI, losing a $100,000 part in the film Confessions of a Serial Killer. He would later be sentenced to four days in jail. Previously, back in 2012, he was arrested for the same DUI offense when he was driving erratically but he was able to plea bargain and in return attend AA. His probation was then revoked when he didn’t show up for the court-ordered sessions of AA.

The recent arrest of Madsen has brought him back in the news for all the wrong reasons and reignited the saga of personal and legal wrangles the actor has faced in the past few years. For all the achievements he made in Hollywood and his frequent collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, Madsen’s life off the screen has really been that of turmoil, both in the legal and personal domains. What the future of Michael Madsen and his family holds now lies behind the unfolding events concerning his wife’s assault.
