Liverpool edged out Arsenal 2-1 in a preseason friendly at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. This time, Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho scored as Arne Slot’s side clinched their second win of the preseason.
13 minutes in, Mohamed Salah wove past the Arsenal defense and finished with a low shot into the bottom corner to give the Reds the lead. Fabio Carvalho extended the lead in the 34th minute, volleying a clever chip from Harvey Elliott past Arsenal’s goalkeeper Karl Hein.
It wasn’t until just before the half-time whistle, though, that Arsenal could respond as Kai Havertz scored from close range in the 40th minute. With a raft of changes to both teams in the second period, Liverpool held on for victory.
This was another win for new Liverpool boss Arne Slot, who has now presided over back-to-back pre-season victories. Liverpool’s next test comes against Manchester United in South Carolina before a final pre-season game against Sevilla at Anfield.
Arsenal’s tour of the United States is now over, and they will face Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon at the Emirates Stadium.
