While it remains unclear if Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Andy Sachs, sources suggest that Emily Blunt is in negotiations to return as Emily Charlton.

Variety reports that the original screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, is also in talks to write the sequel. As of now, Disney has not officially confirmed the project.

Preliminary details hint at a storyline featuring Priestly facing off against her former colleague Charlton, who has risen to become a powerful executive.

The original movie, adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel, left a lasting impression on audiences. However, news of the sequel comes shortly after Anne Hathaway appeared to dismiss the possibility of a follow-up.

In an interview with E! News, Hathaway expressed doubt about a continuation, stating, “I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen.” Despite her skepticism, she acknowledged her affection for the original team, including director David Frankel, and the magic they created together. She emphasized the special nature of the original film, crediting its success to the collaborative effort and the love from its fans.

Hathaway portrayed aspiring journalist Andy Sachs in the original movie, who lands a job as the personal assistant to the intimidating fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly.
