Kym Marsh found herself defending her new relationship after facing harsh criticism on Instagram. The 48-year-old actress, a mother of three, recently confirmed her romance with fellow actor Samuel Thomas, a co-star in her touring production of “101 Dalmatians.” At 29, Thomas is the same age as Marsh’s eldest child, David Cunliffe.
Marsh introduced Thomas to her followers on social media, calling him “the most amazing man ever” and her “soulmate.” However, some followers were quick to express their disapproval. One commented, “Jesus… Another amazing man… five minute wonder… he looks like your son.” Another added, “He looks like your son! Kym, I like you but keep it private.”
Unfazed by the backlash, Marsh responded bluntly, telling critics to “do one.” Thomas also defended their relationship, questioning what was missing from the critics’ lives that they felt the need to comment on others.
Marsh’s new romance comes just over a year after the end of her third marriage. She shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, expressing her unexpected happiness with Thomas. “Met the most amazing man ever! Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times. I love you,” she captioned a photo of herself and Thomas.
Thomas reciprocated the sentiment with a black-and-white photo on his own Instagram account, writing, “I didn’t expect you, but here you are. I love you.” Marsh responded, “Ditto. The best things happen unexpectedly. Love you too.”
Kym Marsh has a son, David, 29, and a daughter, Emilie, 27, from a previous relationship with builder David Cunliffe. Her romantic history includes marriages to actor Jack Ryder and “Hollyoaks” star Jamie Lomas. She shares a 13-year-old daughter, Polly, with Lomas.
In 2021, Marsh married Army Major Scott Ratcliff, but the couple split 13 months later, citing work commitments and long-distance challenges as the reasons for their separation. Despite the ups and downs in her personal life, Marsh remains optimistic and unapologetic about her choices, finding joy in her current relationship with Thomas.
