From Pub Lunch to Trafford Centre’s M&S Café: A Surprising Swap

It was a relaxed Sunday, so we had planned a languid pub lunch. Instead, the venue changed to the M&S Café at Trafford Centre. Much to our surprise, the place had a lot of options and was not as poor in service either.

Sunday was planned out for a leisurely lunch at our local, one of our favorite pubs. Well, all that changed when my daughter remembered she had something to exchange at The Trafford Centre. It was urgent; we had to go.

So, instead of indulging in our usual Sunday pub meal, we got caught in the mad parking lots of The Trafford Centre. After getting the return sorted out, we decided we were famished, so it made sense to try the M&S Café.

A Pleasant Surprise

I recalled that the M&S Café had impressed me once with their Mother’s Day afternoon tea for just £10. I took my mum there earlier this year, and it was great. So, I was looking forward to seeing what other delicacies the café would offer.

Ordering Made Easy

Entering inside the café, we met touchscreens at the very entrance. Ordering was easy, but also fun! You could look through the menu on the screen and select what you wanted. You received an ordering tracker after you ordered; it would let the staff know where you sat. All in all, this system was pretty quick and straightforward.

Tasty Choices

Compared to most in-store cafes, the menu is surprisingly diversified at M&S Caf. Big breakfasts or bacon and sausage ciabattas are available, even omelette buns. For those looking for something a bit more filling, there are potatoes with different fillings, grazing platters, chicken burgers, and beer-battered fish and chips.

After wandering around in The Trafford Centre for some time, we were especially looking forward to the beer-battered fish and chips and the chicken burger with chips.

Quick Service and Delicious Food.

The food arrived well within the time—10 minutes from ordering. It came to our table with a friendly waiter who gave us a smile, and he brought along cutlery, sauces, salt, and pepper. Service was better compared to what we normally get from pubs, whereby looking for extras like salt is common.

We had some desserts, too—some of the famous Colin The Caterpillar cake and some lemon drizzle cake. My daughter was very tempted to dive into her mini Colin The Caterpillar, but we had to wait until our meals arrived.

A Few Small Issues

The food, although good, had a few small problems. My daughter’s ciabatta bun was rather hard, but she still managed to enjoy it. Other than that, it was a tasty and satisfying meal.

While the food was good, there were a couple of small issues. My daughter’s ciabatta bun was somewhat hard, but she did manage to enjoy it anyway. Other than that, it was a tasty and satisfying meal.

Well, after all, this was an unscheduled visit to the M&S Café, so it turned out to be a nice surprise. The food was better than expected, ordering was not a problem at all, and service was great. If ever you happen to be at The Trafford Centre, do drop into the M&S Café for a meal.
