Enhanced Bus Routes Introduced to Boost Service Frequency

Go North East has announced new bus routes aimed at providing a more dependable service for passengers in Derwentside. These routes will connect Consett, Stanley, and Newcastle, serving villages such as Burnopfield, Dipton, and Whickham.

Residents of Annfield Plain, Dipton, and Burnopfield can expect doubled bus frequencies to Newcastle on weekdays, alongside reinstated direct services to the Metrocentre. According to Ben Maxfield of Go North East, these changes are crucial for local communities.

Funded by the North East Combined Authority, the new routes are set to commence on July 21st. In Consett, the introduction of the X70 service and rerouting of the X71 will increase bus frequency from Leadgate to Newcastle. Additionally, the new X32 service will boost the number of fast buses from Stanley to Newcastle from two to three per hour.
