Cho Chang famously gave Harry Potter his first-ever kiss in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved series. The momentous scene has been remembered fondly by fans of the franchise for years, but the actress who played Cho Chang, Katie Leung, has one major regret about it.
Leung recently revealed her regret during a three-day Celebration of Harry Potter event at Universal Orlando. She told PEOPLE on Friday that her biggest regret was cutting her hair the way she did for the role. “I wish I never cut my hair the way I did,” she said.
Leung was just 16 years old when she was cast as Cho Chang in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. She was chosen out of thousands of girls who auditioned for the role. Leung went on to appear in two more Harry Potter films, Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows Part 1.
The kiss between Harry and Cho Chang was a major moment in the franchise, and Leung was able to make it memorable. She said that she was “really nervous” when it came time to film the scene, but she was able to draw on her own experiences to make it feel real.
Leung is now 31 years old and has moved on to other projects, but she still looks back fondly on her time as Cho Chang. She said that she still gets recognized by fans of the franchise, and she is always happy to chat with them about her experience.
Leung may regret cutting her hair for the role, but she has no regrets about taking it on. She said that she is grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an iconic franchise, and she is proud of the work she did as Cho Chang.
