When Destiny’s Child, the R&B girl group that rose to fame in the late 1990s, announced their split in 2006, it was a shock to fans around the world. In 2000, LaTavia Roberson and fellow group member LeToya Luckett were both dismissed from the group, citing “management differences”. The two were replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin, but Franklin left the group shortly after, leaving Destiny’s Child as a trio.
Despite the turmoil, the group continued to be successful, but in 2006, the group announced that they were disbanding. The announcement came as a shock to fans, as the group had been one of the most successful girl groups of all time.
Since the group’s official disbandment in 2006, Knowles, Rowland, and Williams have reunited several times, including at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and 2018 Coachella festival. While the group is no longer active, their legacy continues to live on, and their music remains as popular as ever.
