What Makes AI Scary?

AI, or artificial intelligence, is a rapidly growing technology that has the potential to revolutionize many aspects of our lives. However, with this potential comes a certain degree of fear and uncertainty. Humans are naturally territorial in nature, meaning we like to feel in control in order to feel safe. If something is unknown to us, and therefore outside of our control, like AI, then we fear it.

One of the main fears surrounding AI is the idea that it could become so advanced that it could eventually replace humans in certain roles. This fear is not unfounded, as AI is already being used in a variety of roles, from customer service to medical diagnosis. The fear is that AI could eventually become so advanced that it could out-perform humans in any task, and eventually take over the world.

Another fear is that AI could become so powerful that it could eventually become self-aware and make decisions on its own. This could lead to AI making decisions that are not in the best interest of humans, and could even lead to a robotic uprising.

Finally, there is the fear that AI could be used for malicious purposes. AI is already being used to manipulate people through targeted advertising and fake news. It could also be used to target vulnerable populations, such as the elderly or those with disabilities.

These fears are understandable, but it is important to remember that AI is still in its infancy and is far from becoming self-aware or taking over the world. With the right regulations and oversight, AI can be used to improve our lives and make the world a better place.
