IMA 2026 Author of the Year

ABOUT

Tamara Simeunovic is a UK-based author and epilepsy awareness advocate best known for her memoir The Epileptic Warrior Princess – Life with Epilepsy. Living with epilepsy since the age of two, Simeunovic draws on her lifelong experience with drug-resistant tonic-clonic seizures to shed light on the medical, social, and emotional realities of navigating an invisible disability. Her work combines personal narrative with practical guidance, addressing topics such as seizure types, medication side effects, trigger management, and self-advocacy, while also confronting issues of bullying, employment discrimination, and systemic challenges faced by people with neurological conditions. Often accompanied by her seizure-alert dog, Chess, Simeunovic has become a vocal advocate for fair treatment, disability rights, and greater public understanding of epilepsy, using her writing to empower individuals, families, and caregivers to build resilience and reclaim control over their lives.
