Northern Irish singer reflects on survival of a pellet gun attack: “It Was a Shock for a Lot of People”

The singer opens up about how reconnecting to her roots and creating new music has renewed her spirit.

Folk artist Cara Dillon has spoken about a terrifying ordeal which left her shaken to her core in both physical and emotional ways. The Dungiven-born singer revealed that this year she had almost been blinded in an earlier attack with the pellet gun. “Yeah, it was shocking for many people,” she said on reminiscing on the experience. The case, though rare, was the scariest. Dillon described it as “scary” and shared how it made her face certain vulnerability.

She placed much emphasis on the fact that one needs to appreciate and enjoy the little things in life. “It has made me appreciate the little things even more—the warmth of home, the support of loved ones, and the ability to keep doing what I love,” she said.
