York gets ready for a fun welcome as it embraces the delightful national initiative of unveiling 20 statues of the famous bear from Darkest Peru. The colorful project is in liaison with the eagerly awaited release of the film Paddington in Peru in theaters, November 8.
STUDIOCANAL, the film’s producer has collaborated with York BID to prepare these enchanted statues to be hailed by the public on the streets during the first week of October. Each statue will be unique and painted to resemble Paddington’s iconic red hat, his jovial blue duffle coat, and, of course a marmalade sandwich lovingly held in his paw.
Hugh Bonneville, who plays Mr. Brown in the film, was very upbeat about the approaching statues:. I’m thrilled to announce that we will be launching a chain of benches throughout the UK, each of which will bear our lovely bear. Before the new film, fans, families, and friends can sit down and have a blether with the marmalade-loving bear so watch this space for more information on Paddington….coming to a bench near you!
The trail of Paddington statues will spread beyond York as the following cities are scheduled to join the fun: Manchester, Peterborough, Cardiff, Chester, and Sunderland.
