Harry Styles left fans ecstatic when he made a surprise appearance during Stevie Nicks’ concert at BST Hyde Park on Friday night. The 30-year-old pop star joined the legendary Fleetwood Mac singer, 76, as she honored her late bandmate Christine McVie on what would have been her 81st birthday.
Christine McVie passed away in December 2022 after suffering a stroke while battling cancer. In her memory, Harry and Stevie performed her iconic songs “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” and “Landslide.” Harry captivated the audience with his signature 70s-inspired suit, while Stevie embodied her rocker spirit in all black.
As the performance concluded, an emotional Stevie expressed her gratitude to the crowd, saying, “Christine was my girl, and she loved all of us. Today was her birthday. You all have helped me cope with her loss, and I want you to know how much I appreciate it.” She also thanked Harry, stating, “Harry, I thank you, we thank you!”
Stevie has previously mentioned that Christine’s death marked the end of Fleetwood Mac, a band that had captivated audiences for over five decades. The classic lineup, including John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Mick Fleetwood, last performed together at their MusiCares tribute at Radio City Music Hall in 2018. Shortly after, Buckingham was replaced by Mike Campbell and Neil Finn for the band’s final tour.
Reflecting on the band’s legacy, Stevie explained, “When Christine died, I felt like you can’t replace her. She was my musical soulmate and best friend. Without her, what is Fleetwood Mac?”
Mick Fleetwood has expressed hope for reconciliation between Stevie and Lindsey Buckingham, emphasizing that a peaceful resolution doesn’t necessarily mean the band will reunite. “There is a brick wall there emotionally,” he said, acknowledging their complicated relationship. Despite this, he remains hopeful for healing between his former bandmates.
