Who is dearest to Allah?
The answer to this question can be found in a hadeeth (narration) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). According to this hadeeth, the two names that are most beloved to Allah are ‘Abd-Allah and ‘Abd al-Rahmaan.
The hadeeth in question is saheeh (authentic). It was narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh (2132) from the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). In the hadeeth, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The most beloved of your names to Allah are ‘Abd-Allah and ‘Abd al-Rahmaan.”
The meaning of the two names is ‘servant of Allah’ and ‘servant of the Most Merciful’, respectively. This indicates that Allah loves those who are devoted to Him and strive to serve Him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said: “The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are done regularly, even if they are small.”
The fact that these two names are most beloved to Allah also implies that Allah loves those who are devoted to Him and strive to serve Him. This is because these two names indicate a person’s commitment to Allah and their dedication to His service.
It is also important to note that the love of Allah is not limited to those who bear these two names. Rather, Allah loves all of His servants, regardless of their names. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah loves those who are devoted to Him and strive to serve Him.”
Therefore, it is clear that the most beloved of names to Allah are ‘Abd-Allah and ‘Abd al-Rahmaan. However, it is important to remember that Allah loves all of His servants, regardless of their names. The key is to strive to serve Him and be devoted to Him. This is the path to true love and closeness to Allah.
