Grayson Thorne Kilpatrick’s career began far from the bright lights and conventional pathways of Hollywood. Born on April 1, 2004, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Sherry and Charles Kilpatrick, his entry into acting was born out of both trauma and resilience. At just three years old, Grayson survived a terrifying home invasion. In the aftermath, his parents enrolled him in play therapy to help him process the emotional impact of the traumatic event, as he survived a home invasion at the age of three. Through imaginative storytelling, role, playing, and character exploration in therapy, the young Grayson first discovered the power and comfort of performance, a discovery that would eventually shape his entire life.

Although acting first sparked in therapy, he did not actively pursue it until around the age of eight. That turning point came when a local film crew arrived in his Alabama hometown to shoot the family adventure film Space Warriors. Volunteering as an extra on the set, young Grayson was instantly captivated by the energy, creativity, and collaborative spirit of professional film production. It was on this same set that he met and befriended actor Grayson Russell, best known for his role as Greg Heffley in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid films. That encounter left a lasting impression and further fueled his growing passion for acting.

What began as a therapeutic outlet and a chance encounter on a local film set soon blossomed into a serious commitment. Supported by his family, Kilpatrick began formal training and steadily built a résumé filled with independent films, television appearances, and awards, winning short films. Now, with a notable supporting role as in the major science, fiction survival film “The End of Oak Street” and the recent launch of his own companies,  ThorneRose Productions, LLC and ThorneRose Production Rentals, LLC ,  Kilpatrick is stepping confidently into a much larger cinematic and entrepreneurial arena.

His journey is one of remarkable persistence, unwavering family support, creative curiosity, and a clear determination to move beyond the comedic supporting roles that first brought him recognition. From a traumatic childhood experience to the big screen alongside major Hollywood talent, Grayson Thorne Kilpatrick continues to prove that personal resilience and dedicated passion can forge an extraordinary path in the entertainment industry.

Entertainment was not the family business, Kilpatrick’s parents worked in engineering, with connections to the Space Force and former NASA association, but performance entered his life early through a formative experience. At age three, after surviving a home invasion, his parents enrolled him in play therapy. The sessions offered a safe outlet for processing emotions through imagination, storytelling, and character play. That early connection gradually grew into a genuine interest in acting.

At nine, Kilpatrick began formal training at Hollywood Huntsville in Alabama. He later studied at Gray Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, and in Los Angeles at Margie Haber Studios and the Ivana Chubbuck Studio. He also worked with voice, over coach Randy Thomas (known for her work on Entertainment Tonight and as an announcer for major awards shows) and on, set coaches including Wendy Farone (a director and producer with credits on Disney Channel’s “Liv and Maddie” and the feature Saving Christmas Spirit) and now private acting coach Matisha Baldwin (actress and producer known for roles in “How to Get Away with Murder”, “The Unit”, and “Mayor of Kingstown”, and for new film “The Los Angeles Bakers”).

At the beginning of his career in 2011, he encountered the production of Space Warriors filming in Alabama. Volunteering as an extra introduced him to the energy of a professional set and turned curiosity into commitment. By the end of 2015 his résumé had already included numerous IMDb credits across feature films, short films, and television.

After relocating to Los Angeles with his family in 2016, he joined SAG, AFTRA within a month of arriving.

Subsequent film credits include “Hurricane Bianca”, “Man Down”, “Bad Girl”, “The Substitute Spy”, “Zaw”, “Dead Women Walking”, “Vikes” where he met one of his best friend actor Norton Leufven they worked opposite of actress Sydney Sweeney. A Lead Role in “Black Pumpkin” where he played opposite of Matt Rife and longtime friendship with Voice Over Actor “Dogen Eyeler, and Chicken Girls: The Movie (as Sheldon), where he met great fans, he has adored and appreciated greatly, his social media went atomic the weekend this film was released. Television appearances have ranged across “Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later”, “American Horror Story”, “Documentary Now!”, “Dave”, “Chad”, season 2 a recurring character “Ethan” opposite of Nasim Pedrad, “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”, and “The Hunting Wives”.

Chicken Girls: The Movie (2018), a Brat TV production, proved an important milestone. Kilpatrick has described the cast and crew as welcoming; the experience built lasting friendships and introduced him to a dedicated fan base. Working opposite Melanie Paxson (Principal Anthony) further sharpened his instincts. In 2020 he passed the California High School Proficiency Exam, allowing him to focus more fully on professional development. His credit list has continued to grow past 40 productions, with additional projects in various stages.

He has also worked behind the camera. His short “John Foley: Motivationally Speaking”, a Chris Farley tribute that he wrote, directed, and starred in, earned him a Young Artist Award for Best Actor, underscoring his interest in creating as well as performing.

Kilpatrick’s latest film, The End of Oak Street, marks a notable step into larger, scale production. Directed by David Robert Mitchell and produced under J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot banner, the science, fiction survival story was scheduled for theatrical and IMAX release on August 14, 2026. The plot follows the Platt family after a mysterious cosmic event isolates their suburban street, stranding them in a dangerous environment filled with prehistoric threats. Survival hinges on cooperation and family loyalty.

Kilpatrick appears as Buddy, one of the neighborhood figures caught in the upheaval. The role places him within an ambitious visual, effects, driven ensemble and represents a significant expansion after years of steady supporting and independent work.

Beyond performance, Kilpatrick has pursued a longer, term vision through entrepreneurship. He founded ThorneRose Productions, LLC, and ThorneRose Production Rentals, LLC. The companies reflect his dual interest in creating original content and supporting the practical needs of film and television production.

Together the entities position him to move beyond individual acting roles into ownership of the storytelling pipeline. He has expressed interest in eventually building production facilities connected to his Alabama roots, further linking his professional growth to his hometown beginnings.

When asked what he is most proud of in his career, Kilpatrick’s answer centers on gratitude rather than any single credit: “What I am most proud of is the opportunities I have been given in this industry and all the great people in my corner. Like my parents, grandparents, family and friends, my wonderful manager at Luber Roklin and talent agency at Formation. I am blessed.”

Grayson Thorne Kilpatrick’s path, from play therapy in Alabama to Los Angeles sets, award, winning short films, a growing slate of credits, a supporting role in The End of Oak Street, and the establishment of ThorneRose Productions, illustrates steady preparation meeting expanding opportunity. He continues to pursue work across drama, suspense, psychological horror, comedy, and action while developing the infrastructure to create and support projects of his own. His trajectory remains defined by resilience, family support, and a clear determination to shape a multifaceted career in front of and behind the camera.
