Vicky Pattison has opened up about her “disastrous” weekend on Strictly Come Dancing, revealing how a wardrobe malfunction nearly derailed her Charleston routine with partner Kai Widdrington.
The pair earned 25 out of 40 points from the judges, who criticised their performance for lacking “swivels.” Still, Vicky and Kai were simply relieved to have completed the dance — especially after a chaotic dress rehearsal that went terribly wrong.
During the Strictly podcast, Kai prompted her to share the behind-the-scenes drama, saying, “You should tell them about the rehearsal.”
Vicky recounted, “Saturday was a disaster from start to finish. My little headdress and wig came loose mid-dance — I bent down and the whole thing just fell over my face. I kept pushing it up but it kept falling back over my eyes. Kai’s shouting, ‘Carry on!’ but I was so stressed I almost stopped.”
She added that after the rehearsal, host Tess Daly tried to comfort her, to which Vicky replied in frustration, “My f****** wig fell off!”
Thankfully, the wardrobe team saved the day by sewing the headpiece securely for the live show, ensuring no repeat of the fiasco.
This week, Vicky and Kai will take on the Samba, with Kai teasing on the podcast that Vicky is “really getting into it.” He added, “She actually said today she likes this one — she’s growing in confidence.”
