Harry Styles is under fire from neighbours after unveiling plans to merge several of his luxury Hampstead properties into one massive north London mega-mansion.

The 31-year-old pop star, who first bought a home in the exclusive area for £8.8 million in April 2019 and later acquired the adjoining house for £4.175 million, has submitted a proposal to create a sprawling estate. The designs include a lavish master suite with four dressing rooms, a gallery, drawing room, and TV room. Below ground, the basement would house a cinema, swimming pool, sauna, gym, and a landscaped water feature.

However, not everyone is pleased with the ambitious project. Residents have raised concerns that the extensive development could block natural light and disrupt the neighbourhood. “It’s sad living next to a building site all the time,” one neighbour told The Daily Telegraph. “The houses are constantly being bought up by millionaires and redone. There’s less of a community now, and some people are choosing to move away.”

Two official complaints have already been filed, with representatives warning the project could violate residents’ “private legal Rights to Light.”

Planning permission to merge the homes was initially approved in April, with the condition that Styles create a wildlife haven featuring bat and hedgehog boxes. However, revised plans were submitted recently to refine the design.

In planning documents, Styles’ representatives described the project as an effort to restore “one of the great Hampstead houses,” promising careful landscaping and enhancements to the Grade II-listed property. They also stated that community consultations were held and insisted the new design would not impact neighbours’ access to light.

According to The Telegraph, Styles hopes to complete the ambitious redevelopment by October 2027.
