Lights, camera, couture! The long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is finally in motion, and the star-studded cast just got even more glamorous. With filming underway under 20th Century Studios, seven new faces are joining the high-fashion chaos, bringing along Hollywood flair, comedy chops, and even a Kardashian-Jenner connection.
Returning for the sequel are original stars Meryl Streep as the icy fashion titan Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as the razor-sharp Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as the beloved Nigel Kipling. Also reprising their roles are Tracie Thoms, who played Andy’s best friend Lily, and Tibor Feldman, the formidable Elias-Clark chairman Irv Ravitz.
The sequel draws inspiration from Lauren Weisberger’s 2013 novel Revenge Wears Prada, set a decade after the original. Andy and Emily have joined forces to launch The Plunge, a trendy bridal magazine, and just as Andy is preparing for her own wedding, Miranda storms back into their lives, threatening their success.
The new cast members add an exciting twist to the already iconic ensemble. Lucy Liu, best known from Charlie’s Angels, joins the film alongside The Office alum B.J. Novak, The Leftovers actor Justin Theroux, and Pauline Chalamet (The Sex Lives of College Girls) who also happens to be the sister of Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner’s current partner.
Also stepping into the high heels of the Prada universe are Broadway stars Helen J. Shen (Maybe Happy Ending) and Conrad Ricamora (Oh, Mary!), plus comedian Caleb Hearon. While their characters are being kept under wraps, the buzz around their addition has only added to the excitement.
Original director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh-McKenna are returning to helm the project, with Wendy Finerman producing. Though plot specifics are still under tight wraps, expectations are sky-high for this fashionable return.
With new stars, iconic returns, and high drama ahead, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is shaping up to be the cinematic runway event of the decade.
