Tom Hardy, the famous actor known for his tough roles in action movies, recently shared that his body is not in the best shape anymore. In an interview with Esquire UK, he talked about how years of performing dangerous stunts and getting injured have taken a toll on him.
Hardy has played many physically demanding roles, like Bane in The Dark Knight Rises and Max in Mad Max: Fury Road. He has also been in movies like The Revenant, Warrior, and the Venom series, where he often had to push his body to the limit. Now, he says his body is “all falling to bits” and won’t get better.
“I’ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back, I’ve got sciatica as well,” Hardy said. “And I have that… is it plantar fasciitis? Where did that come from? And why? Why?! And I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It’s like, it’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”
Despite his injuries, Hardy continues to work in action films. He recently starred in MobLand, a crime series on Paramount+, and Havoc, a Netflix action movie directed by Gareth Evans. However, he has finished his time playing Venom in Sony’s Venom movies. The last film, Venom: The Last Dance, was released in 2025 and marked the end of his journey as Eddie Brock, the character who turns into the alien symbiote.
“I loved playing Eddie in Venom,” Hardy said. “Juggling chainsaws… Put me on a unicycle and throw everything at me! I was just really trying to push myself as much as I could. But I had no Spider-Man! No Avengers! It’s just us. Until those bridges are crossed… That’s way beyond my control. And I’d love to do that, but that’s not even a conversation to have at my level, of just being an actor in that world.”
For years, Hardy has expressed his wish to see Venom fight Spider-Man on screen. Tom Holland plays Spider-Man in the Marvel movies, but Sony owns the rights to Venom. This has made it difficult for the two characters to meet in the same film. Hardy once mentioned that he almost made it happen, but the plans fell through.
“We played in the Sony counterpoint to Disney’s Marvel panoply, of which Kevin Feige has a huge amount of cards, and Sony has a huge amount of cards in its own right, including Spider-Man, and then there’s just no crossover,” he explained. “We’d love to cross over! That’s not happened. That’s what happens, and it’s one of those things.”
Even though his body is in pain, Hardy remains passionate about acting. He enjoys challenging roles and pushing himself physically, but he also knows that his injuries are permanent. Fans admire his dedication, but many hope he takes care of his health as well.
Hardy’s career has been full of intense action roles, and while he loves what he does, the consequences are now catching up with him. His honesty about his struggles gives fans a glimpse into the real-life challenges behind the glamour of Hollywood.
Despite the pain, Hardy does not seem ready to slow down completely. He continues to take on new projects, proving that his love for acting is stronger than his physical struggles. Whether he returns to more action-packed roles or shifts to less demanding ones, fans will always support him.
Tom Hardy’s story is a reminder of how much effort goes into making action movies. The stunts, fights, and physical demands can be exciting to watch, but they often leave actors with long-term injuries. Hardy’s openness about his condition helps people understand the sacrifices behind the scenes.
As he moves forward in his career, fans wonder what’s next for him. Will he take a break to recover, or will he keep pushing through the pain? Only time will tell. One thing is certain—Tom Hardy’s dedication to his craft is unmatched, and his fans will continue to cheer him on, no matter what he does next.
In the end, Hardy’s journey shows that even the toughest actors have their limits. His body may be “falling to bits,” but his spirit remains unbroken. And that’s what makes him a true star.
