Your Next Favorite Trip Might Be on This List (April–June Edition)

There’s this sweet little pocket in the year—April to June—that doesn’t get enough love. Everyone talks about “summer vacations” and “winter getaways,” but spring? Spring is low-key perfect. The weather is in that dreamy zone: not hot enough to fry you, but warm enough to ditch the jackets. Flowers are blooming. Prices are still decent. And—best part—most places haven’t hit peak tourist madness yet.

If you’re looking to book a trip (or just daydream about one), here’s a mix of places I either swear by, have stalked for months, or just have bookmarked in too many tabs. Let’s go:

1. Japan – For That “Main Character in a Movie” Feeling

April is sakura (cherry blossom) season. If you’ve seen the photos, yeah—it really is that beautiful in real life. Kyoto becomes a soft blur of pink petals, and parks in Tokyo turn into massive hangout spots where people just sit on mats, eat snacks, and soak in the magic.

Tip: If you go, do a mix of popular spots like Ueno Park and quieter corners like Nara or even smaller cities up north. And yes, bring antihistamines if you’re allergic to pollen (learned that the hard way).

2. Greece – Before the Mykonos Party Crowd Arrives

May and early June is peak Greece without the chaos. The water’s getting warmer, the skies are perfectly blue, and places like Santorini and Naxos aren’t flooded with honeymooners yet.

I’d personally skip the super hyped spots and go for low-key islands like Milos or Paros. Also, Athens? Weirdly underrated. It’s gritty and gorgeous at the same time. And the feta cheese? Life-changing.

3. Vietnam – Green Hills and Lantern Nights

Vietnam is kind of a love letter to every type of traveler. In April and May, the weather in the north (like Sapa and Hanoi) is perfect—clear skies, misty mornings, and rolling green rice terraces.

Head south and you’ve got Hoi An, the lantern-lit town that feels like you’re walking through a painting. Plus, the coffee culture here? Addictive. You’ll never look at a Starbucks the same again.

4. Italy – Pasta, Vino, Views, Repeat

Rome in April is all about blooming orange trees, fewer crowds at the Colosseum, and long walks where you randomly bump into ruins. Florence smells like fresh flowers and leather shops. And by May or June, the Amalfi Coast is turning golden under the sun.

Pro move: Rent a little Fiat and drive from Sorrento to Ravello with the windows down and your favorite playlist on. You’ll feel like you’re in an old-school movie.

5. The Netherlands – Tulips and Chill Vibes

April is tulip season, and trust me, Keukenhof is worth the hype. You walk through fields and fields of color—like literal rainbows on the ground. Amsterdam around this time is fun, too. Biking along the canals feels like therapy.

Also, Dutch people are generally super nice, and the pancake situation? Underrated.

6. Morocco – A Whole New World (Cue the Aladdin Theme)

Before the summer heat makes everything feel like a desert oven, April and May are perfect for Morocco. Marrakech is a sensory overload in the best way possible. Spices, music, tiled courtyards… it’s a vibe.

And if you’ve got time, do a Sahara overnight tour. Watching the sun rise over the dunes? Wildly peaceful and surreal.

7. The US – National Parks Just Hit Different

If you’re into hiking, photography, or just staring at pretty rocks, this is your season. Yosemite, Zion, and the Grand Canyon are stunning from April to June. Fewer tourists, more nature, and (in places like Yosemite) waterfalls that are still gushing from the snowmelt.

My advice: rent a car, make a killer road trip playlist, and go full adventure mode.

8. Canada – Quietly Beautiful in Spring

Vancouver in May is honestly lovely. You’ve got snow-capped mountains in the distance, cherry blossoms in the parks, and people sipping coffee outdoors like it’s already summer. Plus, it’s not freezing anymore.

Hop over to Victoria for a calm weekend with whale watching, gardens, and brunch spots that feel like cozy Instagram posts.

9. Spain – Music, Tapas, and the Best Kind of Chaos

Seville in April hosts Feria de Abril—think flamenco, traditional dresses, dancing in the streets, and late-night churros. It’s loud, colorful, and so much fun. Barcelona and Madrid are amazing this time of year too—before the heat and selfie-stick crowds arrive.

Wander, snack, sip sangria, repeat.

10. Portugal – The Chill Cousin Everyone Loves

Portugal is like that friend who’s low-key cooler than everyone else. Lisbon has hills, trams, and tiled buildings. Porto is wine central. And the Algarve coastline is basically Europe’s beachy secret. April to June means you beat the summer rush, and the sunsets hit different.

Wrapping It Up (But Not Really)

April to June isn’t just a season—it’s a whole mood. Everything feels lighter. People are happier. Flights are cheaper (usually). It’s the kind of time where the world feels open again.

So whether you’re booking flights, planning road trips, or just staring at your calendar thinking I need a break, this list’s got you. And if you end up sipping cold brew in Kyoto or hiking Zion’s cliffs—tag us on your pictures.
