Fans were excited to see the rapper wearing a “Drake” jersey in the video, showing love to the Iowa-based university that shares his name.

The music video was for the song “NOKIA”, which is part of Drake’s collaborative album with singer and rapper PARTYNEXTDOOR. In the video, Drake proudly wears the university’s name, making it a fun moment for both his fans and the students at Drake University.

Back in 2016, Drake actually visited Drake University and even took a photo on top of the school’s sign. He was wearing a varsity jacket with a big “D” on it, representing the school.

Williams explained that her reason for being part of the performance was to represent Compton, the city where both she and Kendrick Lamar grew up.
She joked:
“I’m like, ‘Wait, what, you’re asking me?’ I’m not Taylor Swift, let’s be honest. I would have a better chance to be quarterback at the Super Bowl than dance.”
She also reflected on her journey, saying:
“Who would have thought that a tennis player from Compton would be regarded as one of the best tennis players of all time? It was just putting an exclamation on it.”
Earlier this year, Williams had already denied any drama with Drake in an X (Twitter) post, writing:
“Not dancing to be petty.”
Last year, she even made a playful reference to Drake at the ESPY Awards, joking about Kendrick Lamar’s hit diss track “Not Like Us.”
