Mark Pritchard & Thom Yorke Unveil Tall Tales with New Single “This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice”

Mark Pritchard, a veteran UK producer, and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke have collaborated on an innovative musical endeavor, releasing their joint album Tall Tales. Revealing this collaboration is their new song, “This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice.”

Pritchard and Yorke’s collaborative history goes back years, initially making waves in 2016 with the track “Beautiful People.” Prior to that, Pritchard had remixed Radiohead tracks. Both musicians have been rooted in the experimental and electronic music genre since the early ’90s, always breaking new ground with their pioneering soundscapes. Their new album is set to be a landmark moment in their collaborative history.

Since the release of their recent single, “Back In The Game,” a month ago, Tall Tales is Yorke’s first-ever full-length co-produced album. His previous solo LP, Anima, was released six years ago, and since then, he has been actively working with The Smile, his trio with Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner. This double LP presents yet another metamorphosis in his work now.

Looking back on the making of the album, Yorke explained how it all fell into place during lockdown:

Mark sent me a big file of MP3s of ideas in lockdown.

There were so many good ones I knew immediately that I had to leave what I was doing.
I couldn’t believe how much I hadn’t been anywhere like this before, both as soon as I popped my headphones in and began searching for the vocals, words, and sounds, but also as it went on, seeing Jonathan [Zawada] react so spontaneously and freely with all of his video and artwork concepts.

I was in my head, and I’m grateful to have participated.
I am looking forward to this finally coming out, Tall Tales is very important to me.

I hope people get it and get to hear it!

The latest single, “This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice,” brings together Pritchard’s pulsating and ambient production and Yorke’s distinct falsetto, weaving a spellbinding audio journey. The song has layers of sustained drones and drum patterns inspired by krautrock, providing a haunting yet immersive atmosphere. Yorke’s vocals, fragile but expressive, float across the piece, recalling the soulfu
