Throughout her illustrious career, Guadalupe Lobeto has made significant contributions to the art world by working with major art museums, galleries, and cultural organizations.  In her home country of Argentina, she started her trajectory at the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA) and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires (MACBA). These experiences allowed her to cultivate a deep understanding of both the Latin  American art landscape and contemporary artistic expressions.

Lobeto’s expertise and passion for art extended beyond Argentina’s borders.  Internationally, she lent her talents to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, a renowned institution that is part of the prestigious Guggenheim network, with  prominent locations in New York, Bilbao, and Abu Dhabi, allowing Lobeto to  engage with a global audience and contribute to the preservation and promotion of  modern art on an international scale.

In New York, Guadalupe Lobeto’s career took a pivotal turn when she secured her first opportunity with the Miguel Abreu Gallery. Known for its representation of conceptual and avant-garde artists, this gallery provided Lobeto with the platform to work closely with innovative and boundary-pushing creators. Additionally, her involvement with Artadia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting emerging artists through grants and connecting them with leading curators, further underscored her commitment to fostering artistic talent and innovation.

Guadalupe Lobeto’s diverse experiences at these distinguished institutions highlight her versatility and dedication to the arts. Her career trajectory reflects a profound commitment to both nurturing emerging artists and preserving the rich tapestry of artistic heritage on a global scale.

Guadalupe Lobeto is a prominent figure in the art world, particularly known for her significant contributions to the recognition and promotion of female artists in South America. As the co-founder of Historias Entre Lienzos -hosted at www.entrelienzos.org, she has played a pivotal role in creating the first digital archive dedicated to female artists from her nation. This innovative initiative was duly acknowledged as a “Project of National Interest” by the Argentinian National Congress in 2022, highlighting its importance and impact on the national cultural landscape. By preserving and showcasing the works of female artists, Historias Entre  Lienzos not only fills a critical gap in the art historical record but also provides a platform  for these artists to gain the recognition they deserve.

In addition to her contributions to Historias Entre Lienzos, Guadalupe Lobeto is an integral part of the commercial art sector through her role at Praxis Gallery, the prestigious Argentinean Gallery with locations in Buenos Aires and New York. As an artist liaison, she is responsible for managing relationships with artists, scouting new talent, and coordinating applications for prestigious international art fairs such as Zona Maco in Mexico City, The Armory Show in New York, and Frieze in London. Her efforts ensure that the artists represented by Praxis Gallery receive ample opportunities to showcase their work on a global stage, thereby enhancing their visibility and career prospects. Guadalupe’s keen eye for talent and her ability to foster strong professional relationships have made her an invaluable asset to the gallery.

Guadalupe Lobeto’s curation of the group exhibition “A Diasporic State of Mind” for Praxis is a testament to her vision and dedication to the arts. Her intention was to create a platform that not only showcased the remarkable talents of artists within Praxis’ roster but also introduced new voices to the gallery’s audience. By doing so, she aimed to foster a rich tapestry of artistic expressions that reflect diverse perspectives and experiences.  The exhibition featured an impressive lineup, including Melissa Misla and Estefania Velez Rodriguez, both established Praxis artists, alongside emerging talents such as Carolina  Aranibar-Fernandez, Maria Yolanda Liebana, Simonette Quamina, and Natalia Sanchez.  This careful selection highlighted Lobeto’s commitment to continuity and innovation within the gallery’s exhibitions.

To further enrich “A Diasporic State of Mind”, Guadalupe Lobeto enlisted writer and artist Yelaine Rodriguez to contribute the curatorial text. Rodriguez’s insightful writing provided a deeper context and understanding of the works on display, bridging the gap between the  artists’ intentions and the viewers’ interpretations. This collaboration added a valuable layer of intellectual engagement to the exhibition, making it not just a visual feast but also a thought-provoking experience. The inclusion of such diverse voices and perspectives under one roof facilitated a dialogue that transcended individual artworks, creating a cohesive narrative that resonated with themes of diaspora and identity.

Currently, Guadalupe further extends her expertise as a Project and Research Coordinator for ASLLC, where she continues to contribute to the art world through her meticulous research and project management skills. Her multifaceted career demonstrates her unwavering commitment to advancing the arts and supporting artists.  Whether through digital archiving, gallery representation, or research coordination, Guadalupe Lobeto’s work reflects a deep dedication to enriching the cultural fabric and ensuring that artists receive the recognition and opportunities they deserve. Her influence and achievements serve as an inspiration to many within the art community, illustrating the profound impact that one dedicated individual can have on the promotion and preservation of artistic heritage.
