Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are keeping busy with their respective careers, both spotted working on separate projects in Long Beach, California. On Tuesday, the former couple was seen just miles apart on different sets, each immersed in their current ventures.
Garner, 52, is filming the second season of her Apple TV+ series The Last Thing He Told Me. For his part, Affleck is also 52, though he’s working hard in the Netflix production RIP, a dramatic true story about a group of Miami police officers who discover millions in cash, which creates internal tension and trust issues as outsiders discover their massive find.
Affleck was photographed smoking a cigarette, working on his motorcycle, and eventually heading for his trailer helmet in hand, still looking casual but ready to play another day on set-brooding charm intact.
Meanwhile, Garner was surrounded by crew members as she moved across the set of her series, dressed in a midnight blue jacket and a floral skirt paired with soft boots. Her show, adapted from Laura Dave’s bestselling novel, is about the road taken by Hannah Hall, a woman bonding with her teenage stepdaughter even as she digs into her husband’s mysterious disappearance. The first season, which premiered in April 2023, became Apple TV+’s most-watched limited series, although it earned a 41% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Besides their work, the exes are all about co-parenting their three children—Violet, 19, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12. Garner and Affleck broke up after 13 years of marriage in 2018, but they have been pretty cordial to each other ever since. They are frequently spotted attending events with their children and even doing charity work together as a family.
They were seen on Thanksgiving at Midnight Mission, where they aided alongside the children as they prepared for a traditional holiday dinner. A source told InTouch that things had grown much stronger between them lately.
“They’re become mutual respectful and further level of friendship that they did not have before. Some friends started asking if they are on their way back,” an insider said.
In recent months, Affleck’s private life has been all the more in the news because of his split with Jennifer Lopez in this year. The couple got together again in 2022 and then tied the knot, but they separated this year. Garner has reportedly been off and on with businessman John Miller since 2018.
Though they seem to have moved on romantically with others, Garner and Affleck are in a good place; they seem to balance the demands of parenting and career success. Whether this renewed closeness will lead to a more serious reconciliation is only speculative, but their ability to peacefully coexist is still an inspiration to be envied.
While each stands strong for his or her artistic pursuits, Affleck has now immersed himself into his role, and Garner is deep into her journey with a series that has become a favorite for its viewers. Being in the same city they are in for now makes their presence together in Long Beach really interesting to their story.
