A newly released teaser trailer introduces Damien Molony (Being Human, Brassic) as the titular detective Jim Bergerac, now portrayed as a troubled former investigator haunted by his past. The moody footage captures dramatic waves crashing against rugged coastal cliffs, interspersed with glimpses of the supporting cast, including Zoë Wanamaker (My Family), Philip Glenister (Ashes to Ashes), and Robert Gilbert (Big Boys).

A Fresh Take on Bergerac’s Story

The reboot reimagines Jim Bergerac as a broken man grappling with the aftermath of his wife’s death. According to the official synopsis:

“Viewers first meet Jim Bergerac as a broken man, battling his demons and on leave after the death of his wife. But when a member of one of Jersey’s wealthiest families is murdered, Chief of Police Uma Dalal (Sasha Behar) wants their best detective on the case. Bergerac returns to work to help him become the formidable detective he once was, while also trying to prove to his daughter Kim (Sweetlove) and mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford (Wanamaker) that his life is back on track.”

The plot thickens as the Wakefield family, led by patriarch Arthur (Glenister), conceals secrets, while an individual from Bergerac’s past makes a startling accusation. The six-part series promises an intense blend of mystery, drama, and personal redemption.

Behind the Scenes

The series reunites talents from the BBC Three show Being Human, with creator Toby Whithouse serving as a writer alongside Catherine Tregenna (Torchwood), Brian Fillis (Sirens), and Polly Buckle (A Discovery of Witches). Acclaimed Peaky Blinders director Colm McCarthy helms the project, bringing his signature cinematic style to the production.

With its compelling storyline and top-tier cast and crew, the Bergerac reboot is set to be a highlight of 2025 television. Fans of the original series and new viewers alike can look forward to a gripping journey through the dramatic landscapes of Jersey.
